FOB NZ Warhammer 40k Rankings - Updated for Lords of War

Last weekend Lords of War was held in Wellington, hosted by the Wellington Warlords and umpired by Carson Turnbull.

The event attracted 20 people and was won by Thomas Max using Tau. In fact, three of the Top 4 were fighting for the Greater Good.

Results have been uploaded to the rankings.

FOB NZ Fantasy Rankings - Updated for Guardcon

The Fantasy Rankings have been updated for Guardcon and it has seen this year's winner (and ETC new boy) Rory Finnemore leaping into Masters contention.

Second Place Antony Kitson re-enters the Top 20 and 3rd Place James Cardno edges higher in the rankings.

By my reckoning there are still two more events this year, both being held at Labour Weekend. First we have Conquest in Christchurch being umpired by Damon Quaid and second, Skitterleap here in Wellington umpired by Sam Whitt.

Skitterleap has 18 people paid up already with another 4 registered but still to pay. There is further interest so I would expect at least 25 to hit the tables.

Eight of the current Top 20 ranked players will be there and at least three of these need to place 1st or 2nd to elbow their way into automatic Masters spots. Should be great finale to the 2013 tournament season

FOB NZ Rankings - Updated for Warhammer 40k

Guardcon has been run and won. This year the victor was NZ ATC Captain Nikola Jaksic, capping off a very good month for him.

The results have been included in the Rankings and Nikola has catapulted into the Top 10.

FOB NZ Rankings - Warhammer Fantasy Updated For Warpfire

The FOB NZ Warhammer Fantasy Rankings have been updated to include yesterday's Warpfire event.

And this inclusion has seen the winner, Peter Williamson surge into the Top 10.

Joel van de Ven-Long and Hamish Gordon are other members of the Top 20 to improve their rankings.

On the Icons front Glen Burfield grabs the Vampire icon while Hugh Dixon gets the High Elf one.

The next event is Guardcon next weekend where I believe James Brown is the only player in the Top 20 competing.

FOB NZ Rankings Updated for Tauranga and Invercargill

The rankings have been updated for both systems following the Tauranga Open (WHFB) and Invercargill Invasion (40k).

Tauranga was won by Ross Hillier-Jones who borrowed back Ol' Yella from Jeff Kent for one last run (or is it). This has pushed him up to 2nd in the rankings with the opportunity to be 1st once Guardcon 2012 drops out. Rory Finnemore demonstrated just how unbroken Skaven are by picking up an Empire list and catapulting into 2nd [I guess we can class the Equinox Experiment "Busted"] and Sam Whitt's Tuck and Cut She-Male Slaaneshi Princess continued his bridesmaid run.

After they contested the event on Twitter, Sam Whitt was the best of the Kiwihammer boys and I look forward to the new layers of comp they suggest the game needs going forward. All I can say is that with SCGT comp at Dandies I'd Like to Forget (DILF) Con in November, I would expect things to radically change. Neuter some races while giving others free rein suggests we shouldn't expect the unexpected.

The next event is this week's Warpfire where Walls of 1+ Saves face Cores of Vomiting Trolls.

FOB NZ WHFB Rankings - Updated for NerdyCon

The Fantasy rankings have been updated for NerdyCon held over the weekend in Auckland. Also Call to Arms 2012 results have now passed their use-by date.

NerdyCon was won by Dan Butler with Skaven and I think this represents his first ever win at a ranked NZ event. Congratulations Dan, I can't believe it has been so long coming and I expect the floodgates have now opened. This has jumped Dan up to #3 in the Rankings. Second was Nerdyman (and People's Champion) Henry Poor with Orcs and Goblins and Third Graeme Fry with High Elves. All three attended the recent Horned Rat Gobbo and you can see the value of that experience. Henry is now knocking on the door of the Top 20.

The removal of CTA 2012 has reduced Tim Joss lead at #1 by 2 points while it has tumbled Joel van de Ven-Long out of the Top 10. Joel is going to have to start repaying some of the faith I place in him before every event.

Icons remain static.

FOB NZ Rankings Update - Call To Arms

Call to Arms has been run and won. Congratulations to Sam Campbell for winning the event with Daemons of Chaos. Sam Whitt picked up 2nd with his new Warriors of Chaos which also won Best Painted.

The event has resulted in Sam Campbell entering the Top 10 for the first time. Sam Whitt jumped up one place and continues to hold icons for Most Tournaments and Most Different Armies Used. Locky Reid moves up to 13th and Hamish Gordon enters the Top 20.

The only icon to move was the Skaven Icon which has come home. It is nicely tucked up in its old familiar burrow!

FOB NZ Rankings - Warhammer 40k Nicon Update

FOB WHFB Rankings Updated - Panzershreck

Panzershreck has been run and won and the rankings have been updated to reflect the results.

A new boy has burst into the Top 10 in a blaze of glory and I'm sure that all neutrals will be backing this underdog in his further efforts this year. It is great to see someone come from nowhere and shakeup the established order!!!! And he's doing it with two different armies. What a champ!

Mike King improves his ranking while with his win Peter Williamson moves into the Top 20 and has two further events to improve in his Masters push.

In icon news Sam Whitt gets the Changeling after giving Tomb Kings a run at Panzershreck.

The need for 225-230 points to assure qualification is looking more and more concrete.

NZ Masters Round-up - Fantasy

Just looking at the current Rankings for Fantasy, it looks like a score of 225+ will be required to ensure that you get an automatic invitation to the Masters - that is be ranked in the Top 11.

Most of the current Top 10 have three 2013 season results which means that their ranking score can only improve. Certainly 9 of the Top 11 will score at least 218 points come 31 October.

So if you are aiming for the Masters you'll need to attend events to get that score above 225.

Coming up we have:

Panzershreck (closed) - Palmerston North
Call to Arms - Wellington
Warpfire - Wellington
NerdyCon - Auckland
Tauranga Open - Tauranga
CavCon - Christchurch
Skitterleap - Wellington

Fields of Blood Fantasy Update - Post Tin Soldier

Tin Soldier has been run and won in Auckland....and the rankings have been updated.

The event was won by Phil Wu (showing just how competitive the new High Elves can be). Ross Hillier-Jones was 2nd and jumped to #2 in the rankings on the back of the result. Both Ryan Simister and Richard Barby entered the Top 10.

In icon news, the Chaos Dwarf icon was regained by Richard while James Brown finally got the Ogre icon. Phil Wu now has custody of the High Elf mantle.

Tin Soldier showed that Warriors of Chaos continue to dominate the top echelon of tournament results being an all-singing, all-dancing repository of toys whether with or without comp.

  • Dwarfs - Tane Woodley picks it up from Simon Switzer

Fields of Blood NZ Fantasy Rankings Updated

Over the weekend there was a big shakeup in the Fantasy Rankings. Last year NiCon attracted 34 participants making it the second largest event of the year. This year it got 10 which meant it didn't qualify for inclusion in the rankings.

As a result a lot of last year's NiCon achievers saw big scores drop out of their ranking. Dan Butler, John Willenbruch and Paul Dalton all fell out of the Top 10, despite Dan winning NiCon this year.

Sam Whitt is now up to 2nd Place while Mal Patel with his win at SouthCon jumps to 4th. Darren Urquhart, Antony Kitson and Ryan Simister all enter the Top 10 for the first time this year. Tim Joss has picked up the Chaos Dwarf icon with his 2nd at Southcon

The Horned Gobbo with what looks like 30+ participants is shaping as a kingmaker and will have significant influence on the rankings for the rest of 2013.

There are still places available but you'll need to get in quick.

FOB NZ Rankings - Fantasy: Updated

Over the weekend the Wandering Orc was held in Tauranga attracting 16 people.

The event was won by Jeff Kent, whose Lizardmen crushed all before them. Second was Antony Kitson with Bretonnian. Local Ross Hillier-Jones was unlucky not to podium being beaten on a tiebreak by James Brown.

The results have been entered in the rankings and we see Jeff enter Masters contention after his win. Sam Whitt rises to a career high 3rd Place in the rankings.

FOB NZ Rankings Updated

The FOB NZ Rankings have been updated.

Warhammer Fantasy

Horned Rat Gobbo V has fallen out of the rankings - reached its 12 month anniversary - which has had the effect of giving us a new #1. Tim Joss has regained the position he held before Runefang VI. The previous #1 has dropped to #19 but has taken the treasured Skaven icon with him.

The current Master drops to #11. Other than that their is little change except the Chaos Dwarf icon shifts from Sam Whitt to Richard Barby.

Warhammer 40k

Battle Above The Brynderwyns 2013 has been added to the mix. The winner of this, Nikola Jaksic, finally forces himself into Masters contention securing #12.

Little other change given that the event was minimum size at 12 participants.

NZ Rankings Updated

The NZ Rankings for Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k have been updated for Runefang VI and Auckland Open, respectively.

Warhammer Fantasy

There is a familiar name back atop the Fantasy Rankings but this is likely to be shortlived as HRV falls out within the next week. The most important icon "Best Skaven" has returned "home" after a year of wandering.

Sam Whitt moves higher and continues to accumulate icons - adding the "Best Chaos Dwarf" to his entourage. James "Kenny" Milner retains his tenuous grasp on "Best High Elf" but you've got to think that is shortlived with a new book inspiring many to want to be "Best Girly-Man".

Warhammer 40k

Charlie St. Clair remains all Charlton Heston over his #1 Ranking but the big news is that we have a new #2. Fresh from his 1st Place at the Auckland Open, David Wilson has catapulted over Mark Buttle.

Steve Davis has the Tau icon but for how long? Rumours abound that Charlie will be breaking out the Riptides soon.

Jack has amended the model so that events roll off on their 12 month anniversary date and the rankings update automatically. More functionality - including individual player pages - is planned for the university break.

New Icon - Fields of Blood NZ Rankings

We have added a new icon to the Fields of Blood NZ Rankings.

Now the person who plays with the greatest number of different armies at the tournaments they attend will earn "The Changeling".

James Brown is the Inaugural Holder for Fantasy and Haydn Korach for 40k.

More in keeping with the background fluff, the icon for most 40k events attended has been renamed 'Rogue Trader".
