Great Tournament Prep Guide

Follow the link to one of the best tournament preparation guides I've read.

Agree with virtually all of it EXCEPT the drinking alcohol at an event.

Enjoy!!

  1. Aw c'mon, 6 hours of drinking heavy spirits mixed with fragile models and a tactical wargame you are trying to win. Whats not to love?

  2. I'm concerned too, for a Dwarf player it's a matter of immersion. Is this a philosphical stance, or a practical stance? Less likelyhood of massive minature demolition scenarios?

  4. Drinking at a tournie is only a bad idea if you're going there determined to get a podium finish.
If you're going there to have some fun and catch up with old friends why not have some drinks?

  5. I'm pretty ambivalent. Personally don't mind people having a beer with their last game of the day but don't like them knocking it back from 10am.

@James - Guess itmay depend what you're investment is. Personally if I'm spending money to go to an event - esp travel - then I want to maximise my investment. For me that's trying to do as well as I can. If that means ripping someone's face off...oh wait....old Pete :-)

  7. Fair enough. I guess I've never understood those that see it as a competitive sport. To me it's more of a social and hobby thing. If I win great, if I lose don't care. So long as I have fun and enjoy having a chat with people that share my interest.

  8. The only other good reason for having a drink first game of the day is if you happen to have an alcohol dependency issue.
That would also be a good reason to pay extra attention to your hygeiene as well. No one wants to play someone who smells like they just staggered out of the pub.
Not that I would like to insunuate anything about the guides author mind...
