NZTC Lists

The lists for the NZTC can be found here

Here's the breakdown from the ten teams:

5 - Daemons, Dark Elves
4 - Ogres, Warriors
3 - Empire, High Elves, Lizards, Vampires
2 - Bretonnians, Orcs, Dwarfs
1 - Chaos Dwarf, Skaven, Tomb Kings, Wood Elves
0 - Beastmen

Personally, very surprised by lack of Skaven.

My ideal team would be DoC, Lizards, Skaven, Ogres as I think that would cover most bases.

Here is makeup of each team:

von Trapp Family - Daemons, Dark Elves, Ogres, Warriors

OMEN - Empire, High Elves, Vampires, Dark Elves

Kapiti Crushers - Warriors, Daemons, Dark Elves, Orcs

Capital Crushers - Empire, Tomb Kings, Dark Elves, Bretonnians

Grumpy Old Men - Daemons, Lizards, Dwarfs, Dark Elves

Nerdymen - Ogres, Daemons, High Elves, Vampires

NZHammered - Lizards, Ogres, Warriors, Bretonnians

Over The Hill - Dwarfs, High Elves, Skaven, Warriors

Cut The Mustard - Wood Elves, Vampires, Ogres, Daemons

Shaken Not Stirred - Chaos Dwarfs, Lizards, Empire, Orcs

  1. My Elves are doing a dance of joy at the lack of Skaven, but the I'd guess Everyone else is too

Also 2 Dwarves in 40 armies, the numbers are heading in the right direction :-D

    1. No Simon...the way I look at it you've wasted at least 50 points because you're not prepared to make a considered decision

    2. I've 'wasted' 50 points because I have the ability to make three considered decisions. As with most Dwarf armies. I will force my oppenent to 6 dice every spell from Dwellers, to that Dreaded 13th BS

dnd If their willing to risk the life of their 300pts+ general. I say go for it. There is always a method to a Dwarfs madness (or as we Dawi call it... tactical genius)

As we all must remember and remember good. If I can't have a magic phase. NO ONE CAN!

    3. Sorry to break it to you Simon....there's only one Skaven.

      AND HE'S IN YOUR TEAM!!!!

So yep those three scrolls stopped that 13th Spell BS

    4. Now Peter, it was just an example.

  3. Some really hard teams here. I am disappointed with the lack of skaven tbh. I wanted the practice for ETC. Looking forward to this, will be a great weekend!

  4. I think the lack of skaven might well be due to the fact that there are only a few painted skaven armies in NZ with 120 slaves. Daemons still shape as the power army with triple letters particularly unpleasant.

  5. Just seen the WE’s which nut bought WE’s? Like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

  6. Some interesting lists there - Ogres seem a bit boring all seem to follow the same template. Glen Burfields Vampire army is just crazy, and Id take Skaven over Dark Elves anyday

    1. I have yet to see an Ogre list not follow that Template... If it works why try to fix it?

    2. Because its more interesting to take something different otherwise why bother having an army book at all - just published a set list and sell only those models

  7. Perhaps Skaven are just underpowered and people have moved onto other things?

    1. Same rationale I guess applies to the Beastmen.......

    2. Pretty much Stuart....no love for furries

    3. The day Skaven become underpowered is the day I get my Dwarf armoured bear cavalry.

    4. Rotisserie yarn there Simon...a few more times around and it's going to be overcooked.

    5. No way man! Armoured bear riders would be insane. Imagine the model. It would look so good sitting in a corner wouldn't you agree!

    6. Totally agree with your above comments Simon....just keep cranking that handle lol!

    7. Isn't that what Dwarf players are meant to do. Talk a big a game and/or a bunch of crap then 10-10 everything?

And cry about getting Armoured Bear Riders? Cause I've been doing that pretty damn well I must say.

    1. Just let it go man... let it go

Man I cannot wait for this thing. I'm going to sit in my little 12" Corner and laugh. Even if all the games are 10-10 it what totally worth the 30 bucks just to see the face's of everyone when they get put up against me and my army. It totally will be.

It would be even funnier if I got to play you Sam. It would feel so right.

    2. Man you are a sadistic little dwarf.

    3. Possibly, but hey, all in the name of fun! For me that is

  9. Joel's interesting insight (other than the fact that Team O.M.E.N. pretty much has this in the bag given the fluff bunny lists everyone else has submitted) is the number of Dark Elf lists in attendance.

Down here in Welly at least Dark Elf armies have been rarer than Dwarfs leaving their deployment zone...but as soon as the scenerios are removed and there is an element of match up "certainty" all the Dark Elf lists come out the woodwork..sign of a one hit struggling "written for 7th" armybook? who knows.

Also @ gas Monkey: whoever wrote that Woodie list had a stroke of genius and had read the NZ (and Aussie) meta perfectly.

    1. It's similar to the WE list I used to use a lot last (just not as good!) ha ha, good on him though and certainly played well in the right match up it can be effective. I could just see it struggling in this environment.

  10. Agreed Joel. I thought the NZ scene was supposed to be competitive, and then I see all these Dark Elves. I know I wouldn't be using them if I had an alternative

    1. You had a choice of Skaven didn't you :)

    2. Yeah, dont you have the Dunngeon to browse?

I personally think the Dark Elves can be quite competitive (if they can get mindrazor off :P)...just commenting that you dont see them very often anymore...

    3. DE's could be an interesting one, they can do very well v Daemons who are shaping as the power army of the tournament.

      Delete
    4. Rubbish, expect for Ogres to be fighting Ogres, all tournament long. I'm shocked and appalled at the lack of Skaven, shows how fluffy and storyline driven this event is, I bet most will bring written backgrounds to their lists, even though it's worth nothing :D

    5. If you want me to email you my 8 pages of fluff with scanned in pictures for the more dramatic scenes I can.

  11. I'm very surprised at the amount of DE's, In the last year of playing I still haven't had a single game against them and can only remember one tournament where there even was a DE army.

Oh never played Bretonians either and there's 2 of them...

I'm out of practise and there's 7 versions of army's I haven't played but I think I'll be alright, even with such a fluffy list ;)

Meh it's Skaven, the only thing thats certain is that a lot of stuff will die, just have engage my mighty Skaven tactic of trying to kill more than I lose :)
