RUNEFANG VI Warhammer Fantasy Tournament

I am pleased to announce my next event as RUNEFANG VI, a two day Warhammer Tournament to be played here in Wellington on 27/28 April.

The event will be umpired by Peter Williamson and will comprise five games over the two days. The Players Pack can be downloaded here. This includes all the details including scoring, missions and composition restrictions.

Early registration cutoff is 16th March.

UPDATE: The numbers are looking really strong. Just on 20 since the announcement yesterday. Expecting 30+ for the event and we may hit capacity at 36

    1. Generally the hall maxs out at between 35-40. I have capacity to borrow 15 tables and have 5 of my own. So let's say 40 max.

Wellington events have typically attracted around 30 people so I think you have an opportunity to wait. However I have 10 people already.

I'll keep regular updates for numbers.

  2. As a noob to whfb why is there a restriction on bow shots in an army?

    1. As with most restrictions it is to stop the excesses that make the game very un-fun. Too many arrows = too few smiles.

    2. To discourage gunlines.

90% of the reason people attend tournaments is to have fun and get in 5 good games.
Gunlines tend towards boring play (see Dwarfs) and ultimately are not that good.

The armies that are affected by it:

Woodies-90 shots is probably about 30 too many given you need points for combat troops. As a woodie player I've tried the 90 shot list and when you factor in the 6 scenarios = not the best list, especially when using a 0-20 scoring system. (bow lines excel at win/draw/lose pitch battle tournament play).

Dark Elves- 90 shots is too easy to achieve given everything has double shot. Throw in Shadow magic and the game becomes a yawn fest + there are other very exciting things in the Dark Elf army that create a better list.

Dwarfs: Basically all comp on Dwarfs is designed to troll Tane and Simon.

    3. Funny that the picture has the Runefang in the middle of zombies, how many 3pt models did your TGM kill last time you fielded him Joel?

Look to see me at Runefang. Be registering shortly.

    2. So more like the round ups than walk arounds?

    3. Yeah I watched them all and felt really dirty, especially when Simon was on the screen. But yeah the wider screen for walker arounds would be better. Very entertaining.

    4. Not sure what you mean by you felt really dirty watching them?
Yeah locky was holding the Ipad lengthways when he was doing the walkarounds.

  6. I am going to talk to the wife and see if I can get a pass.

Shot cap also effects chaff heavy lizards, I took 80+ shots to NZTC.

    1. I always forget about the lizards because 99% of the time the shot limit is also in relation to a "shot distance" that is conveniently further than the skinks can spit/throw.
