The Top Five Runefang VI Lists

Having read through the Runefang VI lists while having lunch I decided I rank the Top 5. This is based on fighting all-comers rather than against my army. Of course I'm not including any Dwarf lists as to be honest I didn't really read them - just counted scrolls and warmachines.

#5 - Skaven (Hamish Gordon)

Solid Skaven list with a solid backbone. There are some selections where I'm not sure as to the reasoning behind them but different folks etc.

Expect Hamish to definitely be in Top 10 possibly pushing the Top 5.

#4 - Lizardmen (Jeffrey Kent)

Apart from Dwarfs, probably the world's most annoying list. Difficult to see Jeff losing big with this but it will be interesting to see if he can get the big wins that eluded him at Natcon. List lacks a can-opener but gives away points sparingly.

#3 Daemons of Chaos (Sam Campbell)

The Epidemius in Portaloo list. Nicely themed Nurgle list and I'm sure that it will prove to be strong. The Beasts are fantastic, especially once the tally starts to rise. Biggest risk is the GUO failing 5+ Ward Save against cannonballs

#2 Ogre Kingdoms (Wil Hoverd)

Very strong list that will grind out wins in most situations. The big Manstar is interesting and I think a very good choice. Army plays very wide and is extremely fast. I'll be surprised if this doesn't podium.

#1 Empire (Joel van der Ven-Long)

This is by far the strongest list at the event - especially in the context of the field. Three cannons? Check! Two units of Monstrous Cavalry? Check! Another warmachine just in case? Check! Good magic lore? Check! Solid infantry bunker? Check! Cheap throwaway high armour save units? Check! Still enough points for a Steam Tank? Check!

If Joel doesn't win Runefang with this list, well let's say I'd be very surprised.

    8. Well actually Kent, an 8-12 loss on the 8th game would have pushed me 2nd, but then I fell over and kicked myself in the balls last game which sucks, however, I only have myself to blame for that. What I meant on my last comment was during 6 of the 8 games I pushed top five. But like I said, I just couldn't keep it together on the last game. And I sort of meant it as a joke Kent, not sure it you needed to quoted on that :P.

I don't know, I'm just a Dwarf player, so what do I know right.

    12. Hang on you have all forgotten the scoring is different for Dwarfs. While a 10-10 = a draw for everyone else it is in fact a 20-0 for us. Meaning all non-Dwarf players -10pts from their scores and we add 10 to ours e.g. 10/10 = 20/0, 15/5 = 25/-5, 20/0 = 30/-10

      Seems fair to me...

"Point and Roll - then reroll - then reroll again, then roll a 6 for the number of wounds" You mean.

    17. ooh....Simon are you sure you are upto that. Won't want you to brain fart with all that rolling.

  4. I think Pete's being a bit shy and modest. His list looks fairly honed too. It's probably up there with the top 5, even the top 3 surely.

He has the Doomwheel, Abomb and lore of plague to deal with high armour targets and/or Monsterous Cav. The Bell, Gutter Runners, Storm Banner and Howling Warpgale neutralise shooting and war machines. Dreaded 13th and Doomrocket to kill elite infantry. Multiple magic missiles for chaff. I'm not sure if there's much he can't deal with, so yeah, top 5 definitely, and maybe top 3.

  5. Way to put the pressure on Pete. Can't wait for Saturday!

    1. He deserves some pressure, Mr Master Mindgames that he is.

Pete's the one to beat. A very strong list combined with vast experience and a genius for ruthless cunning makes him the contender.

Unless you have the luck to submarine your way to victory, you'll have to climb over his carcass to win on Sunday.

    2. Yeah Pete's got the equal second nasty list (with Hamish). I think Joel's is the nastiest list out of all of them.

Mine is up there but I'm not taking skillcannons.

I hope all the skaven players get dwarf players to shoot out their bells all weekend. That would be awesome.
