New Games Workshop Figure Cases

I'm surprised that there hasn't been more talk about the new figure cases Games Workshop have come up with to replace their existing range.

I went into the local GW store the other day and had a look at one. My initial impressions were that they weren't an improvement - more boxy, internal foam very flimsy - and then I watched the GW video posted to YouTube.

Clearly more aimed at 40k rather than Fantasy - but who knows in three months - but I was surprised at how they work. They really appear to be a different take on what has been the industry standard for the past 5-10 years of pluck foam and dedicated laser cut.

Now I won't be replacing my current Battlefoam cases but I do think it is great to see innovation.

Has anyone got one and if so how do you find it?

  1. But will it survive a rear exit from the car at 70km?

  2. Why has the guy got 4 arms? Why Dammit?

    1. Because he has adapted by growing another 2 arms to unpack all those damn figures quickly before the start of the tournament. Doesn't know about magnitised trays...

    3. Anytime. I thought it was obvious but guess I was mistaken.

    4. Perhaps. But there was always the possibility that he was a mutant but I suspect he'd have a job as a fielder in the slips rather than current career doing GW videos

  3. Interestingly, I got a reply on my Twitter feed that says it is impractical for metal models which fall to bottom of dividing foam and grind against each other.

  4. The foam idea looks terrible for infantry, but maybe ok for large models. I dont like the idea of my models rubbing against each other and scratching all the paint.
And that WHFB army... Ogres and VC? only one Morghast!
I'll stick with the KR foam

Are the cases themselves more sturdy?

    1. I think current are more sturdy than the new ones. The clips are a potential weak point similar to the current ones
