6th Edition Edges Closer

This Saturday we have the unveiling of Warhammer 40k 6th Edition. Warseer already has posted a picture of the new book.

The first question that will be answered is the release……there is some scuttlebutt that it is 30 June but I would have thought GW would have released White Dwarf prior to releasing the book. The first Saturday in July still makes more sense to me.

It is safe to assume that it will follow the format of 8th Edition WHFB which means that it will be full-colour.

Please let the new edition have pre-measuring! I suspect it won’t only because there has been no gnashing of teeth - which I think will be a missed opportunity.

Expect specific erratta and FAQs to emerge for all codexes in the next couple of weeks if the rulebook heralds significant change.

    1. You know something Tim? I don't think the new rulebook will sell out somehow....at least not in Welly or Auckland.

Very surprised they've gone with 30 June

    2. I was more suggesting independants will be hesitant to order excess stock in. Next months WD is out this saturday, so prob hit the street on Wednesday. The new rulebook is the same price as WHFB hardcover. I heard 380 pages as well.

    3. So what will be the price in Invercargill?

Two cows, three magic beans and a collection of possum pelts?

  2. I can't believe I am saying this, but if the rules are good, I may have to add a 40k army to my Fantasy collection..... I have always liked the models and fluff, but the game itself never caught my attention.

    2. ha yeah, I have about 1500 pts of guard from ages ago. 30 Rough riders all converted and painted. Not too sure on what army I would go for though. I had Orks, and would like to do an kommando army with helicopters for trukks and stuff like that. Although marines would be cool to.

    1. Well we don't really know that until we see the rules IMO.

7th to 8th WHFB was major change in critical mechs. This may be the same

    2. Its a gaming system that offers different challenges to that of other games. That is something that people tend to forget. You may not like the game but there is no need to denigrate the game or its players.

    3. Nice way to judge a book by its cover, as thats the only concrete bit of information we have! Im guessing your a warmachine fanboy?

  4. If it's modelled on the fantasy book with lots of art and background fluff i'll buy a copy.
I enjoy reading fluff, and I haven't read anything 40k related for years.
Might even play a few games if the rules are okay.
