Forgeworld "Horus Heresy" Release Date Confirmed

The first book of Forgeworld's Horus Heresy journey has been confirmed for release at UK Games Day (weekend of 15/16 September).

The initial book will be called "Betrayal".

My own title would have been slightly different. I can't decide if "The Emperor is a Self-Obsessed Whiney Biatch" or "Wake Up and Smell the Coffee" would have been the better title.

Still, mark UKGD as the date that the ghost of Pete Haines rises from the dead.

  1. "The Emporer is a Self-Obsessed Whiney Biatch" is a good one, pretty accurate too. But for a pithy, truly accurate title I think it's hard to beat "The Emporer is a Fcukin' Moron".

Seriously, he creates 20 demi-gods, all of them proud to the point of obsession, and many of them dangerously imbalanced (Angron, Lorgar, Perturabo, Leman Russ, the Night Lords primarch, the list goes on), gives them huge armies and fleets, then leaves them to play by themselves out amongst the stars. Then he's surprised that his whole empire disintegrates within 10 freakin' years.

I like the premise of the Horus Heresy, but the Divine God-Emporer has the political acumen of a toddler. He deserves what he gets.

    1. Corpse-God is the correct term

    2. Well, he's not looking that flash now, but back then he was tall, virile, impossibly handsome.

And for all his 40K corpsiness, he still keeps Nurgle and co in check. So he does pretty well for a cadaver.

  2. I'm assuming this is irony. In the HH black library series Horus is definitely the self-obsessed whiney biatch with his 'why has my father left meeee' schtick and the thing about his statue not being on display with those of other primarchs when shown the future (ahh, the manipulations of Chaos). Magnus doesn't exactly cover himself in glory either with his 'look at me daddy, i'm so smart' antics.

Ah the Heresy, Days of our Lives in power armour ;-)

  3. Leman Russ is the most balanced of all the Primarchs - wash your mouth out Tane!

    1. Leman might not have the anger-management issues of Angron, or the self-loathing of Kurtze or the "... self-obsessed whiney biatch with his 'why has my father left meeee' schtick" of Horus (nice quote). But he's still an angry, angry man who'll pick a fight with his 'brother' primarchs over some slight to his honour.

All of the primarchs seem to be modelled on elements of the Emporer's personality. Which means that they're intrinsically imbalanced, even the 'good ones'. No wonder the Imperium implodes within a decade of the Emporer heading back to Terra.

    2. You guys know nothing about how great Leman is and what sacrifices he made for the Imperium. :)

      Not surprising though... you're both a bit one-eyed! :D

    3. I'm more of an Imperial Guard fan myself. It's easy to be brave when you're a demi-god, or a genetically engineered super-soldier. Or a genetically engineered super-soldier imbued with the power of the Dark Gods

Real men go into battle wearing cardboard armour and carrying crappy weapons made by the cheapest tenderer.

  4. To be fair, the Emperor probably made his 20 sons reasonably well balanced with some accents in particular areas. Chaos stole them and distributed them throughout the universe for them to grow up without his guiding hand. Angron wouldnt be so angry if he didnt become a slave and get psyhcotic implants for eg
Only now do we come to realise the Chaos is pulling Petes strings like a puppet =P
