Call to Arms Fantasy Results

Here are the results for the Call to Arms Fantasy competition held over the weekend.

Best Painted went to Sam Whitt with Joel van de Ven-Long second. Best Sports to Josh Kennedy with James Millington 2nd.

This was Tom's first tournament win after he placed 3rd at NatCon. It was Tim's first North Island win.

My predictions were reasonably spot-on. My Top 5 all finished in the Top 7. Sam and Joel pushed their armies in to spoil my party.

Sam was leading going into the last round where he lost to Tim (15-5). Tom pulled out a 20-0 over Raymond to jump from 3rd.

Interested to get some feedback on what people thought of Special Characters being included. Only one army in the Top 8 (10?) had one - Tim's Tomb Kings. However while Khalida strengthened the list the two Catapults and two Caskets made it pretty nasty to start with.

  1. I love the diversity! Thinks it proves how great this edition is.

    1. Eight different armies in the top 10 is pretty good.

Obviously VC hunt as a pack.

It is a real disgrace that Dwarfs cracked it....hang your heads in shame CTA players!

  2. I think its great that its all so close when you have almost no hard caps.
Sam almost broke his day 2 jitters =P
To be honest, turn three I thought he had me!

  3. Yup Tyrion is not worth the points. Honestly a Lord and a Level 4 would have been a much better use of Lord %

Honestly don't think SCs are that great once you remove the abusive ones ala Teclis. So can we finally stop the hate?

Also just wanna say (for the first time ever) that Tane was not an awful dwarf opponent. Big thanks for not castling in the corner do I actually was encouraged to engage!

PS White Lions are coming soon!

    1. Tane got two Best Sports votes and two Best Army votes.....I was disgusted.

    2. They only seem to work when you have 52 of them backed up with a dragon...I was very suprised at how well my list did when I was thinking it was going to be doomed by chaff walls and artillery.

Only SC I encountered was the Green Knight and he was great fun...until he tarpitted my dragon.

    3. I think one unit can work. Artillerys not an issue, when you can stand one deep cause you're stubborn. And chaff is what reavers are for, what a great unit! I don't get the hate from HE players

      Amulet of light fail? Haha

    4. Well I had the Amulet of light on one of the Whitelion units meaning I had to pick what forest I DIDNT want the Green knight appearing out of. Dragon got munching on Paladins, then the Green Knight hopped across for some fun too :( Might need to work out how to get the Ogre Blade on the Prince me thinks...

    5. Pete, I'm really touched by your kind words. Seriously, you're in danger of showing what a big softy you are.

I am surprised to get even a couple of votes for Best Army; I think my Dwarves are nice, but not top-notch. Thanks to whoever liked them enough to vote for them. And a couple of Best Sports too? Thanks again, I'll try to be a good opponent next time. Though no promises against Skaven. I fricken' hate those ratboys.

  4. Hey Pete....WAAAAAGGGHHH ORC! Glad to see Sam beat the mockers that you placed on him and finished well with a fairly middle-of-the-road army. For everyone out there, Pete doesn't have magic powers - as he quite obviously failed to hex Sam! ;-p

  5. Whoo hoo, 17th! My best yet, slowly improving. I think list did what I expected it to do, the go big or go home artillery worked twice, but then I faced vamps twice...

    :D

  6. I'm reasonably certain these results are fake. I dont see a James Milne.

  7. Pete doesn't have magical powers but he was concentrating so much on making his prophesy for me to come true that he let Sam slip under his radar.
It was prophesised by the Oracle that:

"I would have a hard job getting my Bretonnians through the VC armies."

Just to prove the point, the Oracle drew three of the four VC armies available against me in the draws. And lo and behold, I lost to two and scraped a minor win against one.

Talk about self fulfilling prophesies Pete.
