Runefang V Approaches

Next weekend we have the Runefang V Warhammer tournament here in Wellington. It is the first tournament of the year in the region and represents the first opportunity in 2012 for Wellington players to get some rankings points. At present there are 25 participants signed up which means that it is worth 85 points for the winner.

Lists are due in to the Umpire (Peter Williamson) this Sunday and hopefully once he’s check them he’ll post them out to the participants. The comp system being used is a variant on the Pete-Lite system so no triple Special or double Rare choices (if more than 70 points).

I’m expecting to see some variety in the choice of armies that came along to HomeCon last weekend. Certainly there will be Dark Elves and Warriors of Chaos on show. There has been the usual griping from the O&G players over the unfairness of non-race specific restrictions but they just generally switch to Warriors of Chaos armies anyway!

  2. It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is to abuse the Pete-Lite comp system....or something along those lines

  6. Isnt it a sign if people decide to switch armies that the comp system isnt achieving its desired result?

  11. I think the comp system is fine :D. It gives some variety in tournaments. So people just don't spam the same competitive 2400pt list ;D. Hopefully my Dwarfs can pull their heads out their arses and not blow themselves up on the first turn lol

  12. You should have sent in the Double Doom, Double Mangla, Double Pump, Rock lobber list in, maybe it would have been missed and you could have played it ha ha...

off to buy second Doom Diver this week.

Have decided to play fun and games with TO's like pete who write silly restrictions on low tier armies... plan is to write up the list I WANT to play, send it in and play dumb during the resulting email tag... "what do you mean max 3 of PW and mangla, you mean I can take 3 of each... sweet!" swiftly followed by " can I take four PW then, the book says I can take four Pump wagons and 2 Doom divers, whats wrong with the book???"

    :P

  13. Since when is that o&g book low tier? Mid table at worst... Not syre how much youre joking but while i dont particularly agree with the generic comping of rare Choices, why not look at them as a reason to try something outside the box? Rather than just pissing off the guy whose going out of his way to organise a fun weekend for you? ;-)

Oh, and if you have to have double rares to compete, then I should probably ask all the guys I've watched do well without them if they've been cheating...

  14. Not my restrictions Hamish.....blame Peter.

Bloody silly TO not letting me take the list I want. I'll make them all pays I will!

  15. James, I'm pretty sure that Hamish was joking. If not, then let's put itdown to the fact he lives in Tauranga and cut him some slack.
